At Melford Technologies, ensuring our clients have reliable digital solutions that can be used in a wide range of environments is fundamental. That’s why we built our state-of-the-art environmental testing chamber at our premises in Amersham, UK – to stress test our latest technology in the most extreme conditions possible.
Recently, we had the opportunity to test our brand new 28” monochrome e-paper displays in our testing chamber and we’re pleased to say that they performed incredibly well across a wide range of temperatures and humidities.
Here is one of our e-paper displays after being exposed to sub-zero temperatures for an extended period of time:
Given the range of outdoor locations e-paper displays can be deployed into, we need to be certain that they will remain reliable for our clients regardless of changing weather conditions and seasonal variations, which our testing chamber is able to simulate effectively.
As seen in the video, it’s also essential for us to test visibility in both low light conditions and direct sunlight. Our e-paper displays feature a built-in LED edge light for illumination purposes and the effective anti-glare display is sunlight readable – features that came across clearly during our testing procedures.
Testing ingress protection and impact damage is also a key factor in delivering robust solutions to our clients, and we are pleased to confirm that our e-paper displays are IP67 and IK8 rated – making them ideal for demanding outdoor use cases.
