Melford Technologies & E Ink Partner to Deliver Ruggedised E-Paper Solutions

Digital solution specialists Melford Technologies Ltd. have partnered with electronic ink pioneers E Ink to produce a compelling range of ruggedised e-paper display solutions for their UK market.

Building on Melford’s decades of experience delivering robust digital solutions, that are purpose-built for demanding use cases, the partnership with E Ink has delivered a range of highly efficient, eco-friendly displays – an ideal replacement for traditional signage with much lower power requirements than LCD or LED displays.

The partnership has already proven highly effective for a number of transport and public sector requirements, delivering important public information and timetables across rail and bus transport networks. These new e-paper solutions are easy to update on-demand with the latest travel information and their success is driving further rollouts along new transport routes.

E Ink e-paper technology uses charged black, white and colour particles, which are suspended in liquid microcapsules, or microcups®, and coated onto sheets of plastic. When an electric field is applied, the charged particles move within the microcapsules to create a visible monochrome or colour image. This image is then retained without the need for further power, and subsequent content updates draw minimal power, as the same process is reapplied.
