Video walls made up of multiple LCD panels provide an effective and visually impactful solution for displaying content across large areas. They are commonly used for digital signage in various settings, including retail spaces, airports, showrooms, reception areas, and as large format displays in control centres, and conference rooms.

Despite LED technology gaining traction in these markets, LCD remains a popular choice in various professional and commercial settings, and with the introduction of our new product range, LCD is striking back with a new alternative to traditional video walls to compete with LED displays.

One of the essential factors in video wall design is the size of the bezel; a smaller bezel results in a more seamless and visually appealing display. Our new ultra-narrow LCD panel has a 0.44mm bezel – thinner than the size of a pixel! This mean that the screen-to-screen bezel width is a mere 0.88mm, less than a third of traditional video-wall screens, giving seamless LED a run for its money.

"Although LED is becoming more popular and accessible, many of our clients are still keen to use LCD technology when creating large format displays. Cost is still a factor, with LCD having the advantage over LED. There are also scaling issues that can occur with LED installations when the displays don’t comply to the default screen proportions we have all lived with for many years and created content for. Scaling isn’t so much of an issue for experienced LED users but for those wanting to deploy a large format display to run standard formatted content with as little hassle as possible, LCD is the most popular choice." Steve Osborne, Managing Director, Melford.

Our new displays are widely used for video walls by people who would like LED, because of it’s seamless joins but remain loyal to LCD technology due to its cost-effectiveness and versatility.

Melford provides a complete range of LCD video wall solutions as well as indoor and outdoor LED solutions including 55” cabinets. Our solutions support a wide range of consumer-facing environments, including retail, hospitality, leisure, education, and travel.
